About The Northern Nevada Gaited Horse Club

The NNGHC is comprised of a group of people of various ages and backgrounds who have a common interest. That is our soft gaited horses. W e enjoy a wide variety of activities with each other and our horses. The club sponsors numerous group trail rides through out the year. We are fortunate in N. Nevada to have plenty of sunshine and a wide variety of locations to ride. The club also will hold clinics from time to time on a any horse related topic that someone wants to bring to the membership. The Club also will put on a show at date and location to be announced.

We welcome any one who loves horses to join our club. Remember there are two kinds of people in the world. Horse lovers and the other kind.

minutes from January 19th membership meeting;

NNGHC started the new year off with a holiday bash on January 19th , at the Washoe Valley Community Center. For many years now it has been a club tradition to have a pot luck , general membership meeting at this time. This year we had a wonderful time, due to the hard work of Teacia and Greg Irwin and Teacia's friend Sharon Columbus. Also with the help of Carol Pitzer and Abe and Holly Carson. The community center was beautifully decorated with NNGHC pictures of past events, ( thanks Maggie Stilwell ), and all the pot luck paraphernalia and gifts were artfully arranged. Thanks so much to Teacia and her team who made this a wonderful party.

President Ed Ogg called the meeting to order shortly after 7:00 p.m. Present at the meeting were Ed and Sue Ogg, Carol Pitzer, Abe and Holly Carson, the O'Gorman family, Carol Paris, Phil Hurd, Jim Alexander, Mae Franco, Jerry Falkenstein, Kelli Allen, Samantha Deputy, Martin Deputy, Maggie Stilwell, Mary Field, Sarah Dockins, Teresa Jarrett, Darlene and Cecil Goyette, Jazelle Ingersoll and Gary Marcuso and son.

Jim Alexander gave a brief treasurer's report stating that the club should be in good shape finacially for 2008, ( any member that would like a detailed report from Jim feel free to contact him ).

The minutes from the November meeting were not read because they have been posted on the club web site.

Samantha Deputy talked about the planned trail rides for 2008. She said she will have more overnight rides, that way those who wish can come and camp and ride for 2 days or simply trailer in for 1 day. That gives us more flexibility as far as meeting the riding preferences of more club members. Everyone thought this was a good idea. Samantha will communicate with club members about upcoming rides through e-mail and the club web site. Be looking for these notices of spring rides.

Mary Field announced the winner of the TRAIL RIDING COMPETION, Georgia Kinninger with a grand total of 204 hours. She also presented several members with a certificate for participating in this fun program. The club plans to continue this program for 2008

There was discussion about the availability of FUJI PARK for a show this season. Jim Alexander will be keeping us up to date on the progress at Fuji, but at this time it has not been re-opened. Carol Pitzer had many great ideas as to the type of shows, groups to partner with and who would be interested in participating.

A service award was presented to Jim Alexander for his continued service to NNGHC over the years. A second service award was also given to Claudia Taras for her continued service to NNGHC.

The meeting was adjourned around 8:30 p.m. Thanks to everyone who stuck around and helped clean up.
